Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously review the site HSE Management System, policies, standards, and procedures in compliance with applicable national regulations and international best practices.
  • Provide strategic HSE leadership and direction to all site departments.
  • Lead and manage the Safety Operations team, ensuring effective deployment and performance.
  • Oversee all hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk control processes across site operations.
  • Ensure timely investigation of all incidents, accidents, near-misses, and dangerous occurrences; review root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Prepare and present HSE performance reports, statistics, and trend analyses to DMD O&M.
  • Ensure the site maintains compliance with all applicable mining safety regulations, environmental permits, and statutory obligations.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of HSE training programs, inductions, and competency assessments.
  • Manage relationships with regulatory authorities, government agencies, and external HSE auditors.
  • Monitor and report on environmental compliance, including dust, noise, water, and waste management obligations.
  • Review and approve HSE plans, method statements, and job hazard analyses (JHAs) for high-risk activities.
  • Develop and manage the HSE budget and resources.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Mining Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive HSE experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of mining safety regulations, HSE management systems
  • Proven track record in incident investigation, risk management, and HSE system implementation.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain a positive safety culture.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote site environment.
